If you’ve been thinking about the perfect woodsy baby shower for your adventurous bundle of joy, there are many ways to incorporate a woodland theme to create the ambiance of a magical forest.

A woodland themed baby shower is perfect for anyone who enjoys lush forest setting, adorable creatures like foxes and deer and adventuring in the great outdoors.

Regardless of whether the baby is a boy or a girl, there are many neutral items that can be used such as plush animals, candles and branches.

Woodland Invitations

Once you’ve chosen your baby shower invitations, you’ll be able to plan around its colors and concept. Woodland themed invitations can range from rustic greenery with delicate creatures to flannel patterns and tree trunks depending on the gender of the baby, location and budget.

Your invite will also give guests a sneak peek into the theme of your party and can choose baby gifts based on your color scheme.

Woodland Baby Shower Food Ideas

Baby shower food usually depends on how many people are attending. If it’s a sit-down meal then a more formal party menu makes sense. But it’s most common to serve pretty desserts and finger foods. Below are some food ideas for a woodland baby shower:

  • Woodland creature macarons
  • Rustic cheese and charcuterie board
  • Seasonal fresh and dried fruits
  • Bacon wrapped dates
  • Sweet and savory sandwiches
  • Apple pie with salted caramel ice cream
  • Vanilla cupcakes with antler cupcake toppers
  • Trail mix
  • Caramel apple station

Presentation is key when serving themed food. A combination of wooden plates or slabs with pretty metallic hues will make for an amazing woodland shower. If you want to wow your guests, create personalized napkins or tea towels with the baby’s initials.

Don’t get too caught up in choosing foods that go directly with your theme. Other baby shower food ideas are perfectly fine for no matter what your decor is.

Woodland Centerpieces and Decor

A woodland themed baby shower calls for branches, leaves and forest creatures. If you want to decorate the guest tables, incorporating any of these items will help bring your party to life. Consider personalizing a photo cube and turning into a beautiful flower pot with artificial flowers.

This will not only allow you to incorporate the images that you want but it can be kept in your home to be displayed after the party has ended. They can also be given away as baby shower party favors. Keep in mind that adding adorable stuffed animals to your decor creates a softer mood overall and can be kept as gifts for when the baby arrives.

Items to consider for centerpieces are:

  • Branches
  • Eucalyptus leaves
  • Tree trunks
  • Forest animal figurines
  • Small artificial trees
  • Rustic roses
  • Personalized vases
  • Candles
  • Baby moccasins
  • Wreathes
  • Vintage bottles

When choosing a centerpiece, make sure that it doesn’t overpower the table. Small details will make a huge difference, such as items dipped in metallic paint and fresh seasonal flowers and plants.

Another great option is to personalize items with the baby’s or parents-to-be initials to be kept and cherished for years to come.

Woodland Cake Ideas

If you’re looking to add a woodland twist to a traditional cake, it’s quite simple! Include rustic browns mixed with soft pinks and greens for decor, creamy chocolate, vanilla or caramel flavors, and top it with a sweet ornament or leaves. Many cakes also include cute baby creatures made out of fondant.

You can also include other desserts such as cupcakes, macarons, donuts and brownies to go along with your decor. If you don’t have time to bake, buy a simple cake and add toppers made out of paper or cute Christmas tree ornaments for that rustic forest vibe.

For a more non-traditional feel, you can add a donut wall, decorated cupcake tower or candy display.

Woodland Baby Shower Games

Games and activities at baby showers allow the guests to mingle and get to know each other. Including three or four games at your party helps the party flow and creates a fun atmosphere.

If you are thinking about including baby shower games, there are a few that you can easily twist into a woodland shower theme by adding a few simple phrases and images.

For example, you can make a mommy scramble with woodland phrases, decorate onesies with pretty leaves and illustrate a baby bingo by adding cute forest details. You can also hand out winning prizes that go along with the theme: wood-scented candles, Christmas ornaments, tea towels and rustic cutting boards.

As you can see, creating a woodland themed baby shower for a baby boy or girl is easy, you just need a couple of key pieces. Planning a baby shower is always fun, especially when all your loved ones gather around to welcome your special little one.

How to Play Baby Shower Bingo:
Print off the cards above (there is an easy .pdf version you can print off) and cut them out. Print off one extra game card for your master copy. With scissors, cut up your master copy into the individual squares - each square with one word on it. Put these squares into a hat (or diaper bag) and draw them out one at a time during the game. Read the word on your square when you pull it out. Give your guests time to find the word on their card and place a game piece over the word. Then you draw out another square and read that word aloud, as before. This continues until someone fills in a row (vertically, horizontally or diagonally) and yells 'BINGO!'.

Or you could use these baby shower bingo cards to play Gift Bingo:
These cards have names of typical baby shower gifts. There are 20 different cards to print off, each one is a different order (so that each guest gets a differently ordered card - otherwise everyone would win at the same time!) Print off a different Bingo card for each guest. Buy Hershey's Kisses or little plastic babies at a craft store for the game pieces (or M&M's, Hershey's minis, or other candy). You will need about 15-20 game pieces for each guest.
During the Baby Shower, hand each guest a bingo card and 15-20 game pieces. Instruct the guests that as the expectant mother is opening her gifts, they place a Hershey's Kiss or other game piece on their card if the gift is on one of the squares of their Baby Shower Bingo card. So, for example, if the mom has just opened up a package of onesies, then everyone would look on their card for 'onesie' and mark that square with a game piece. Someone wins if they get 5 in a row, 5 in a column, or 5 in a diagonal. Keep playing even if someone wins in the middle of opening gifts; keep playing until all the gifts are opened. (Have multiple prizes because there will likely be more than 1 winner).
